NKC1 is a ubiquitously expressed adaptor protein containing one Src homology 2 (SH2) domain and three SH3 domains.

NKC1 mediates signal transduction from tyrosine kinases via the SH2 domain to the downstream effectors via SH3 domains.

NKC1 is involved in many signalling pathways which regulate diverse cellular processes e.g. development, homeostasis, activation of immune cells, tumorigenesis and tumour invasiveness.
