Caveolin-1 (Cav-1) is ubiquitously expressed; it is involved in regulation of many signalling pathways, cholesterol trafficking and tumorigenesis.

Cav-1 is a structural component of caveolae and transport vesicles from trans-Golgi network. Cav-1 deficiency leads to loss of caveolae.
