Beta-arrestin-2 is a nonvisual, ubiquitously expressed arrestin; it is an adaptor protein which is involved in the regulation of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR). It mediates GPCRs desensitisation through uncoupling of G-proteins from GRK-phosphorylated receptors and promotes their internalisation through the clathrin-mediated pathway.
