Beta-adrenergic receptor kinase 2 belongs to the family of G-protein coupled receptor kinases. It is a serine/threonine kinase which phosphorylates the agonist-occupied form of beta-adrenergic and related G-protein-coupled receptors. Phosphorylation of the receptors results in desensitisation and internalisation of the receptors.
